It’s easy to see why so many elderly residents don’t eat a properly prepared meal; cold weather and decreased mobility makes going to the shops off-putting whilst ailments and lack of strength make standing for long periods of time to cook uncomfortable. Further issues of dementia, memory loss, lack of appetite and increasing energy prices only seek to worsen the problem.

Nutrition at this stage of life is extremely important. From breathing difficulties to increased risk of heart problems, not eating well can lead to a range of health issues and can weaken the immune system increasing susceptibility to illness, especially in later years when your body does not absorb nutrients like it once did.

Leading the way in hot meal delivery, Gourmet Meal Care started their service due to fears their grandmother was not eating properly. Having tried ready meals they were unhappy with the quality and often found them hidden in the freezer. They wanted to provide something more wholesome and home-made and felt that their grand mother couldn’t be the only one in this situation.

The meals are home-cooked British Classics such as Roast Beef, Cottage Pie and Chicken Casserole with no artificial additives, colours or flavouring. Portion sizes are adjusted to the client’s appetite, meats are slow cooked and accompanied with four sides of vegetables. At only £5.50 for a hot meal delivered to your door the service is also great value.

Meals are brought hot*, plated and ready to eat between 11-2pm, so there’s no excuse not to eat a good meal.
